Running a “benchy” boat at the moment... System says 7 hours print time, but I’ll run out of the starter pack of PLA they give you with the machine long before the print is done, especially since I used nearly 1/4 of it doing bed-leveling. But in any case I just wanted to see how she runs on a more complex print. So far, so good!

Coolness! I really want to pick one up[ myself as I work with them at the local library...they have 5 there, including a $15,000 ceramic-powder-composite 3D printer - very cool!
What make and model is that one?

It’s an Anet A6. It’s your basic Prusa i3 clone, but with a few goodies like heated bed, work-cooling fan, and a fancy LCD. It’s a complete and relatively well engineered kit for ~$180. Good community support for both the hardware and software. Lots of well documented tweaks and upgrades available.

Might have to look into it - my big draw is wanting one that can print in ABS asit’s more durable for outside use in case I go to make car parts with it :P

Monoprice!
I have the select v2, and have printed abs by putting a cardboard box over it to contain the heat.

Does yours not have a heated build plate?

It does, but I got better results if I blocked the air from the HVAC from blowing across the build.

Ah, yeah, that would cause it to cool prematurely, probably.

Be careful, the Anet printers are known to be fire hazards. Most commonly bed heater runaway temperatures, but some power supply issues and control board things as well.

I’m using a separate bed heater mosfet and power supply, supposed to reduce stress on the slightly undersized main board transistor and make it safer/run better. The power supply is obviously super cheap, and I may invest in a MeanWell or something semi-name-brand, but I’m in early days now.
